1969 Camaro SS Convertible!

L-48 300 hp 350 with air!

Numbers Matching, Protect-o-plate and build sheet!

You can watch the complete restoration of this super desirable classic unfold before your eyes !

The car had been with the previous owner for the last 18 years in dry sunny Texas! He had been collecting parts over the years but, had no time to finish it so here it is! I will be restoring this car over the coming months and updating this page (hopefully weekly) so you can see the progress in action!

Here's some of the options:

L-48 350, 300 horsepower (running and driving!)

Factory Air

Cortez silver on black deluxe interior

Console with gauges

Turbo 350 Trans. (getting a Muncie!)

Power Steering

Power Disc Brakes

Manual Black top

Original Manuals, owner protection card, partial build sheet, receipts etc...

The car arrives at the shop, running, driving and stuffed with parts!

The complete car is gutted bagged and labeled in prep for the restoration

It Always looks worse (and messier) before it looks better!

Here's The last this car will see of it's former self!

After some initial sand blasting I was more than pleased with what I found! Clean unmolested sheet metal (so far)!

Check out the original Cortez silver paint on the side of the cowl!

Stripping the underside with glass grit:

Pretty solid, so far...

The rear frame rails, shock supports and trunk pan blew me away, there wasn't any rust or rot whatsoever!

After some closer examination, trail patch fitting, too many pinholes and allot of thought, I decided a complete 1 piece floor was best for this car...

Some rust around the base of the dash was cut out and an new panel was installed

Driver's 1/4 had a poor repair from a light tap, I tried to save it first but the guy who got to it before me messed it up, so it was removed, all areas underneath were sandblasted and zinc coated...

And a new full GM repo. panel installed...

front drivers fender looks like it also "ran into" some trouble at some point and was previously filled, so it is stripped of body filler and hammer and dollied out...The shape is coming back, but still more work is needed to straighten it out...

The sub frame gets scraped and degreased a bit before disassembly... My next investment will be a high pressure steam cleaner!

Ready to Blast!

Sub-frame is detailed and ready to re-install...

Rear end is stripped...

Blasted, Inspected and serviced as needed...

New brakes...

and detailed...

Underside gets a fresh coat of epoxy and satin black...

Nice rust free doors with a few minor dents....

Rebuilt engine, with some mild toys added, just waiting around....

Finally the car has paint! Time for countless hours of wet sanding and polishing!

Wet sanded with 1500 then 2000 grit...

And polished with heavy then medium compound...I'll wait till the car is a little further assembled for the fine cut and glaze! Although the D.O.I. (reflection) is pretty good at this point!
